Burkman Bros. S/S 09

01Canadian boys who made good, Doug and Ben Burkman are showing a new side of high-end casual. the brothers honed their skills designing for the Gap before leaving to launch their brand Burkman Bros. seeing that at some point flannels will become nighttime outerwear, I could definitely use a few of these plaid cotton shirts for day-to-day usage. paired with lighter washed jeans or khakis, cuffs, boatshoes, and white t’s, I see my summer wardrobe coming together quite nicely. more spring/summer 09 shots after the jump

Kanye for Louis Vuitton

kanye-lv3I know that these have been hyped up all over the internet but I felt I had to give my personal thoughts and feelings about these ‘things’. I am a fan of Kanye, the self dubbed Louis Vuitton Don, (now he can really sport that title) you cant deny his talent and heart for doing what he loves music and fashion. I was surprised to hear a while back that he would be designing a shoe for the Louis Vuitton, as I wasn’t too sure about his personal designing skills (his own line Pastel, questionable?). When it comes down to it Kanye has great style and is always pushing the boundaries with his outfits, but I know he can afford the pieces he wants and is it the money or actual style that sets him apart? This brings me back to his shoes for Louis Vuitton, first off I don’t like the overall look of them, there are elements of them I like but the overall look doesn’t appeal to me. They look like a really expensive DC or other skate inspired shoe but with obviously better construction and materials. The shoe looks a little over designed with the tongue being too high and the back heel piece is just not needed. I give Kanye respect for completing the project and collaborating with not just some average street wear line but the fashion powerhouse of Louis Vuitton, I just don’t know if I am sold on these? Full preview of the shoes after the jump…

Retro Super Future Sunglasses

super4As the weather gets nicer it is time to start thinking about breaking out your favorite sunglasses, and if you need a new pair, Retro Super Future‘s might be for you. I am a big fan of the Wayfarer style of glasses, I personally own the Ray-Ban Wayfarer’s in tortoise shell and over sized blacks, as well as my personal favorites the Oakley Frogskins in both black and white. The Retro Super Future’s are a really great look with a good selection to choose from, with the Classics, Flatops and Ciccios as well as a good variety of collaborative projects.  I am looking to add a pair of Retro Super Future’s to my collection, and they would make for a great addition to any guy or girls… More styles after the jump. LTTP: Keri Hilson + Lil Wayne + Polow Da Don

2723200310_6851372a9fI’m know I’m a little late on hyping this track, but I think I’m forgiven for not being totally up on my mainstream R&B / rap.. this jam is damn hot though. Keri Hilson brings the vocal heat and Lil Wayne kills it with a crazy intricate verse (will he ever slow down? I hear there’s a rock album being planned now..). production is by Polow Da Don, who’s done some of my favorite mainstream tracks over the last few years, including Rich Boy’s ‘Throw Some D’s’ and Ciara’s ‘Promise.’ all in all a banger with a crazy beat and vocals to match, this is definitely the stuff I look for in my top 40 club track guilty pleasures.

Tweed Run

3166906374_7d5f09fe5b_oWhat an amazing concept.. the London Fixed-Gear & Single-Speed forum hosted this most-stylish event, and the photo evidence is gorgeous. the cyclists took a relaxed route that saw them go through Saville Row and end at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club for ‘refreshments and cheer.’ classy bikes and classy style, the Brits know how to roll.  info from Adrian Fitch and Tracko ,  for photos Continue reading

Opening Ceremony x Pendleton

opening-ceremony-pendeltonOpening Ceremony has recently revealed there upcoming collaboration with American heritage brand Pendleton. As mentioned before I live in A.P.C. denim and I also live in Pendleton flannels so this thoughtful collaboration is right up my alley. The line consists of 23 updated styles of classic pendleton pieces such as patchwork flannels and blazers for men and Navajo blanket bell skirts for women. The line will not be available till August but will be a hot look for the end of summer time…

throwback: Raekwon ‘Only Built for Cuban Links’

The next addition to the throwback file is one of my favorite hip-hop albums of all time, Raekwon’s ‘Only Built for Cuban Links.’ This album was actually one of my first hip-hop cd’s, and at the time I really had no idea what they were really talking about, but I knew it was good. Now looking back and listening it over I realize how good it actually is. With a large guest appearances from Ghostface Killah (almost outshining Raekwon on his own joint), their chemistry is unmatchable playing off each other’s flows and trading off verses flawlessly. I highly recommend a full listen of this album but in head phones so you can really take it all in….these guys were so ahead of their time.
