I have yet another addition to add to the ‘New Favorite Blog’ feature here at 84/85, and this time around it’s a personal style blog by photographer William Gentle, entitled ‘Backyard Bill’. Its a great concept, capturing people in a few of their everyday looks on their own turf, complete with a little interview with each person. The photography is beautifully done and the people and looks captured are nothing short of the same. Check here for the blog and keep reading for a few of my favorites…

Not entirely on the subject, but this and The Selby reminded me of a book I loved as a kid, Peter Menzel’s Material World
It compares “statistically average” families around the world by photographing them outside their homes with all their belongings on the lawn. Snooping through their possessions and comparing them to those of other cultures fascinated with me then and now.
