I’m bad at watching movies, especially in the theatre.. something about sitting still for two hours. Anyway, with inevitable rainy days in the future there are a couple films playing/ about to play that I would like to go see. First is The Limits Of Control, directed by Jim Jarmush, who’s 1995 feature Dead Man is one of my all-time favorites. The rich Spanish visuals combined with a great ensemble cast featuring Bill Murray and Gael Garcia Bernal definitely make this film hard to pass up. Next, set to premier in MTL in about a week is Tokyo, directed by Michel Gondry, Leos Carax and Bong Joon-ho. The trailer is crazy (with dead-on soundtracking by Tokyo Police Club), and the separate visions of these three non-Japanese directors is going to be a visual tour-de-force. The urge to go see Terminator and Star Trek while they’re still playing is strong, but ultimately I think it will be the two smaller budget movies that get me to shell out $8.
Bonus: I will, without a doubt, be going to see 9 when it opens Spetember 9th
