Rogues Gallery Fall 2009 Lookbook

rg9

First of we would like to apologize for the slow down in posts on the blog as of late, so to kick things back off we bring you the Fall 2009 lookbook from Maine’s own Rogues Gallery. The collection is looking good with with a great deal of nautical influence which is expected from Rouges. I think a line like RG is much more of a Fall/Winter line, as it gives them a chance to work more with their outerwear, and sweaters, which are the pieces I usually like the most from them. There are some really nice looking items in this lookbook and the photography by Mikael Kennedy has a nice feel to it, showing Rouges Gallery is a line to check for. More pics after the jump…

my good friend Chris (aka Longshanks) has been one of the most important/polific people in the Victoria, BC music scene for years.. his ultra-successful Saturday night weekly at Lucky Bar, Solid!, is always packed and you can count on him to play a wide array of songs from many different genres, and probably some new isht you’ve never heard before (all of which will make you dance). also, as one of the main dudes at one of the best record stores in Canada, Ditch, he has special ordered me many a vinyl and always kept the place stocked with a crazy array of the new, old, and obscure. Chris also has been a huge advocate of good live music in the city, and is always helpful and inclusive to up and coming bands, solo artists, and DJs.. did I mention he’s also a producer? his new track kills me on a heavy, heavy dubstep tip, and his layering and bass LFO techniques are off the hook.

LSP – Kids Are Fucking Idiots

bonus: this is a banging remix he did a while back for my favorite Victoria-based artist, the always amazing Dreamboat

Dreamboat – Townies (LSP ‘that’s about it’ mix)

Star Trek ‘Enterprise’ models

Picture 1Picture 2I was raised on Star Trek the Next Generation, and I’m damn proud of it.. I can tell you how exactly Tasha Yar died and explain the  concept behind the Borg consciousness, so obviously I was hella stoked when the new movie came out (even though its based around the original series, not TNG). and while I haven’t made it to the theatre to see it yet, the website/promotion behind it is pretty awesome – they commissioned numerous different artists to decorate models of the Enterprise, and the results are  varied interpretations of the starship which run all over the artistic spectrum.. my dad would be STOKED. keep nerding out after the jump.

SoPopular fall/winter 2009

Picture 11

Berlin-based label SoPopular‘s f/w 2009 collection refines and improves upon what a lot of brands have bought in to over the last couple seasons – an ultra-clean, finely tailored ensemble of basics that can be dressed both up and down. I love the color stories, cuts, and the styling, plus the use of Cole Mohr in this lookbook is super on point.. I’ve had a few discussions lately about this new prominent breed of male model.. how we’ve gone from from the more Ken-doll-esque look to a London punk style, complete with tattoos and an angular, pale, brooding aesthetic. anyway, the outfits are really well composed, and this interview with the designers explains their philosophy, which seems to have all the right ideas. more after the jump.

Lifelike Sundays

Picture 1(flickr)

another vocal anthem for your spring/summer activities, this remix has one of my favorite arp’d synth lines out of the Lifelike discography, plus a feeling that can fit most moods, happy to sad. The weather remains strange here in MTL, unsure of itself..  hot and humid then cold and windy, sun and grey. Work is draining, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.. could use a steady internet connection at home though. hope all is well wherever you all are.

Harvest Green Project

harvest6

The ‘Harvest Green project’ was a winning project designed by romses architects for the ’2030 challenge’ which was a recent competition held by the city of Vancouver to address climate change and try to come up with a model for greener and denser development in cities. Here is a write up about the Harvest project: “The concept of ‘harvest’ is explored in the project through the vertical farming of vegetables, herbs, fruits, fish, egg laying chickens, and a boutique goat and sheep dairy facility. in addition, renewable energy will be harvested via green building design elements harnessing geothermal, wind and solar power. the buildings have photovoltaic glazing and incorporate small and large-scale wind turbines to turn the structure into solar and wind-farm infrastructure. in addition, vertical farming potentially adds energy back to the grid via methane generation from composting non-edible parts of plants and animals. furthermore, a large rainwater cistern terminates the top of the ‘harvest tower’ providing on-site irrigation for the numerous indoor and outdoor crops and roof gardens.” Check out Designboom for the full breakdown and more pics of the project after the jump…

wants and needs: New Era cycling cap

bike-cap-black-detail

lately I’ve been super in to hats again, specifically snap-backs, and this number by New Era Japan is crazy on point. plain colors with the subtle Arc en Ciel striping under the brim makes this hat a perfect fit for my summer wardrobe.. especially the black and the blue. there is something about hats that makes me feel safer on my bike, more kitted with my plain tee’s and jeans, and less needing to keep my hair game in check. check the jump for more colorways.

on another note, I’m back to working full time and have no internet at the place I’m subletting for the next month, so apologies in advance for a slowdown in posting on my behalf..
