Levi’s Japan has come up with an interesting new line of denim, based around the idea of wearing in your jeans quicker. With the whole raw and Selvedge denim trend going on for a while now companies are trying to find ways to cater to this market, such as A.P.C. doing the actually pre-worn “Butler Worn Out” series and now Levi’s with the Imprint jeans. The idea behind the Imprint jean is that you get faster distressing and more wear sooner out of your jeans. So if you wear them for only a month they show signs of wear as you would have worn them for six. It is an interesting concept in the fact that you have to spend months and months on a good solid pair of A.P.C’s or Simon Miller’s to even show the slightest wear, whereas these will look like you have worn them for years after only a few months. All I am really wondering is why do these jeans break down so quickly, I hope it isn’t a compromise in the denim quality or if it is just the type of indigo they are using? In the end I would like to try a pair of these jeans for myself, I like the idea and would be interested to see how they work out. More pics from the collection and the process after the jump…

bought a pair of these at a Levi’s store about 2, 3 months ago. I’ve worn them maybe 20-30 times since. I’ve even slept in them a few times to break them in. I basically just wear them to the office or to bars a few times a week, so it’s not like I’m beating the hell out of them. The most active thing I’ve done in them so far is some electrical work at my brother’s house (funny story: I left a big indigo stain on a wall after my knee repeatedly brushed against it while on a ladder). there is some visible fading so far, but not a whole lot. right now they look like something between the first row and second row of photos in the series above. there is minor fading around the knees (more on one side due to the aforementioned ladder incident); some minor fading around the wallet in the back pocket; and some nice creases behind the knees. will my imprint time be doubled due to my sedentary lifestyle? are these meant to be broken in the way of the original Levi, i.e. get out there, get dirty, and earn your wear and tear? time will tell. based on how they look so far, I trust that these will achieve that broken in look and take on a nice personality in due time. as for the question of denim quality – like most Levi’s, these are tough as nails.
Thanks for your comment and story of your experience with these jeans to date. I still haven’t made the jump to grab a pair. I should they seem like a fun project.

I have a pair that I’ve worn ~20 or so times as well. They look exactly like they did the day I bought them. No fading.
