102 Minutes That Changed The World

Anyone up here in Canada that caught this documentary on CBC’s ‘The Passionate Eye‘ last night went for a gut-wrenching two hour ride, witnessing the 9/11 attacks from a first-hand perspective seamlessly assembled through amateur, local news, and emergency services footage. There is an impact felt through the shaky camera work and the accompanying commentary that is as raw as it gets; regardless of what one’s political views are or opinions about the after-effects of the attacks, to see people’s ground-level reactions as the minutes tick by in lower Manhattan was something else… painful, honest, and intriguing, as the realizations went from ‘how could planes crash on such a clear day’ to ‘America is under attack.’

Originally titled ’102 Minutes That Changed America,’ this History Channel original production will probably air again soon on CBC, although they have yet to set a date. You can stream it in parts on youtube or purchase it from the HC. I would highly recommend this to anyone, as it truly removes all the politics and partisanship, and focuses the perspective to the only thing that mattered on that morning: the absolute human tragedy, and fear that gripped the world as we watched live.
