Outlier Spring 2010 Lookbook

Brooklyn’s Outlier continues their run of ultra-simple bike-oriented pieces for spring 2010, with their signature pant, merino tee’s and polo’s, and a braided keychain. The line’s ethic is something we can totally get behind: handmade in the USA, by cyclists for cyclists, etc… however, the pant our friend ordered a few seasons ago hasn’t exactly stood the test of time… here’s hoping they’re continually working on quality standards, as the clothes should be bulletproof for the price. 12ozProphet: 1997 Brazil Graffiti

[vimeo vimeo.com/10368663]

Here is a look at some amazing ‘lost footage’ from the 12ozProphet crew from their monumental trip to Sao Paulo back in 1997. The trip was for an article on Brazilian graffiti for the 6th issue of 12oz Prophet magazine. Sonik and Raven went to Sao Paulo to meet up with the twin graffiti writers OS Gemeos to document the Brazilian graffiti scenes: “The sight of São Paulo and the otherworldly graffiti scene exploding over its gut-wrenching social landscape, the peculiarly Brazilian collision of poverty and wealth, was a complete shock. Meeting Os Gemeos – as well as Nina, Vitche, and Herbert Baglione, gave us friends for life, and the sight of their work was a glimpse into the future of an art movement we thought we knew, but even now, more than a dozen years later, has yet to catch up.” This particular magazine and article was a huge influence on myself at that time when I first started getting into painting in the late 90’s.

Beyond the Peloton 2010 Season Intro

Following the Cervelo Test Team through the grueling road racing circuit, I really enjoyed watching Beyond The Peloton through the 2009 season… but at that point the videos were only available to stream on their website. However, for 2010 they’ve decided to put them on youtube, with embed capability no less! I’m not a cycling jock nor do I think I ever will be (although as I get older I end up doing a lot of things I thought I’d never do…), but the documentation of these professional road racers is so well done that you can’t help but get in to the spandex spirit. Hit the Test Team website to catch up on 2009 or see the latest videos as they’re released.

B:Scott Spring/Summer 2010

San Francisco-based designer Brandon Scott’s path to his own label took him through one of our favorite menswear lines going, Nice Collective, which means he’s got to be one to watch. Interning/designing for them from 2003 – 2005, he then went on to head the popular woman’s collection, B. Son. Launching his own line in 2009, B:Scott‘s spring/summer 2010 offerings are embellished basics, with knits, sweats, and jackets that reflect the easygoing California aesthetic of his experience and influences. I especially like the collar work on the sweatshirts, with multiple layers that don’t overburden the pieces. Keep reading for more, and thanks to Snobtrop for the tip.

Whyszeck Autumn/Winter 2010 Preview

Swedish label Whyszeck has just released a preview of their a/w 2010 collection, with looks composed of simple, wearable pieces, as the line seemingly moves towards a slightly more relaxed cut and fit.  Highlights for me are the aviator-looking tan coat, the cargo pants, and the forrest camo jacket… for some reason I’m really hyped on camo right now, and a classic military piece like this is the right way to do it. Click through for the rest of this a/w preview.

Polaroid 600 One Camera Kit

The Impossible Project team have been working hard over the last year to re-make the classic polaroid instant film. Last week saw the release of the black and white Polaroid 600 film (with color coming out in the summer). Now they have released this newly designed sleek looking Polaroid 600 camera. The camera comes complete with a fresh box of 600 film ready for you to instantly snap away. The ‘kit’ is available for $180 USD and is limited in quantities.

Goodhood x R.Newbold S/S 2010

R. Newbold is quickly becoming a favourite here with the 84/85 boys, with their playful takes on this whole ‘serious’ workwear  movement. They have teamed up with Goodhood to produce  this great looking collab collection for spring/summer 2010. The collection itself features fun takes on classic work style pieces; I love the patchwork shirt and short, and the polka dot shirt and pant combo is so fresh. The collection also includes some great looking accessories and bags including two rucksacks done in leopard and stripe print. Goodhood and R. Newbold have done a great job on this collaboration collection, keep reading for more looks…

Huf SF Spring 2010 Lookbook

Huf SF is definitely one of my favorite ‘streetwear’ labels, mixing skate + hip hop influences with the norcal cool of SF and a more grownup cut-and-sew direction as of late. I always have a want for their hats, varsity jackets, and sweats, and the brand’s presentation is always super on point. Plus their motto is ‘dirtbag crew,’ which is pretty much the best… one of the very few graphic tee’s I would rock, that’s for sure.
