Reigning Champ S/S 2010

Reigning Champ is a line that should have a place in any guys’ wardrobe. The Vancouver based and made line is doing all the right things, classic looking basic pieces done with high quality jersey fabrics in nice slim cuts. The spring/summer collection keeps moving in the same direction with a few additions, such as the two tone hoodies and crew-necks and coach style jacket. I also really  like the color range with the basic black, grey and navy, and some nice heather oranges and yellows for spring. Keep reading for the collection…

A Closer Look: Martin Clothing at Blue Lug

A line we’ve been following closely over the past year or so, Martin Clothing finally has a comprehensive web presence, thanks to the good folks at Blue Lug Japan. Martin Clothing is the project of Mike Martin, best known as the driving force behind MASH SF, the San Francisco track bike film/crew/brand that exposed the burgeoning fixed gear culture to a broader audience. Such an authentic feel to everything Martin puts his name to, yet his clothing endeavor has only been shown in bits and pieces, making this reveal nice to see for those who’ve been waiting for a closer look at the line. Regarding the relationship with Blue Lug, Martin states”it’s always refreshing to see others respond to what you’re passionate about. I have not been screaming about this project yet, just happy to be producing quality pieces with friends. It has been a truly hands on project with most, if not all styles made in San Francisco, start to finish.”

To me, the pieces look as strong as the previews have hinted at. Solid basic designs with an eye towards cycling functionality, without having the items overpowered by it. I really feel the jeans and pants, with unique yet subtle pocket designs practical for bike folk. Shirts and sweaters look nice as well, all interesting takes on tired-and-true basics. If the quality of the pieces is as it should be, Mike Martin is a serious new player in the congested menswear market. Click through to see all of Blue Lug’s Martin Clothing offerings.

Lavenham Fall/Winter 2010 Collection

Lavenham, a traditional English company, have a signature look and style with their quilted jackets and vests. The fall/winter 2010 collection adds a few more pieces to their traditional mix. It seems as though they are trying to break into a new ‘younger’ market then their traditional crowd (horses and horse riders). The looks shown are more modern and fashion forward. I really like the grey shawl collar jacket and the quilted tote bag. Keep reading for more looks…

Mishka D.A.R.T. Spring 2010 Lookbook

Liking this makes me a hipster, right? Regardless of the connotations Mishka carries with them, their Death Adders Road and Track team has some nice swag, and always comes correct with presentation and style. Every season the D.A.R.T. line produces nice looking windbreakers, snap backs, tees, and accessories… plus the line seems to be continually expanding under the Mishka umbrella. This lookbook was shot by Andrew Temkin in NYC, and features fixed gear bloglebrity Prolly… click though for more, and if you like, make sure to hit the webstore asap as this stuff never sticks around for long.

Generra Fall/Winter 2010

Here is a look at the fall/winter 201o collection from Generra, which is the line that Swaim Hutson, formerly of Obedient Sons, has teamed up with. I was excited to see what the next moves were for Hutson, as we were big fans of his work for Obedient Sons. What he has brought to Generra is a fresh new outlook; “We went in to fall 2010 with the idea that we would inject as much color, keeping things as open, loose and casual as possible.” I love this use of bold color as well as the nice mix of casual and dressy looks and more casual fits. The key looks for me are the wool/jersey blazer and pants, the outerwear pieces and the color matching of socks to toques, so fresh. Keep reading for more looks…

Rough Trade x Pantha Du Prince

London-based Rough Trade Records surprised many when they signed Hendrik Weber (aka Pantha Du Prince) for the release of his third LP, a big move from his previous home at Dial Records, a smaller, more techno-focused German imprint. Here Rough Trade has produced a short documentary where Weber speaks his mind on his productions, field sounds, and the forrest vs. the club. Featuring some very pretty shots and the most revealing interview I’ve seen yet with the artist, it’s well worth the watch… and if you haven’t already, make sure to pick up the phenomenal Black Noise, available now on Beatport.

A Closer Look: South 2 West 8 S/S 2010
