Dennis McGrath for HUF

Former skate photographer turned adult photographer Dennis McGrath has teamed up with San Fran’s HUF to produce their newest art collaboration project. Mcgrath was a skateboarder in the 80′s which led him behind the lens, shooting photography for all the major skate publications. Later he decided to call the skate photography quits and moved on the shooting more personal and documentary style works, as well as some work within the adult entertainment industry. HUF commissioned Dennis to shot these amazing photos of ‘industry’ girls for a small collection of t-shirts, decks and postcards, which will be released at an opening party tonight @ HUF’s LA location. Keep reading for the full collection and shoot. Note: photos aren’t exactly safe for work.

Tuesday Entertainment

Here’s a quick roundup of some of the best of the internet over the past few days. First off, XLR8R just dropped a new podcast helmed by 84/85 favorite FaltyDL. Frenetic as his production styles, the mix contains new original Falty material alongside tracks from his contemporaries, mixed together with some classic garage and 2step. Available for download here.

The Atavistic Urge: Johny Coast and Seth Rosko is a collaborative film effort profiling Brooklyn talent by  John Watson (aka Prolly) and Sara Kinney. Good dialogue from both builders and the video itself is very well shot, making for a quality watch for any 2 wheeled enthusiast.

Lastly, Hypebeast just released this interview with Mr. Cartoon regarding his collaboration with Nike Sportswear to design the US World Cup 2010 uniforms, along with his thoughts on being Mexican-American and how it’s influenced his work. It’s pretty amazing how someone who came exclusively from tattoo and graffiti culture can rise to such corporate heights, and goes to show how dynamic the shift in mass marketing culture has been over the last decade.

Weekend Soundtrack: 6th Borough Project

A nice companion to the Eddie C post from a couple weeks back, Craig Smith (aka 6th Borough Project) is a legendary Edinburgh-based DJ/producer who’s slow disco-house sounds are a smooth as it comes. I was first introduced to his work through Do It To The Max, a burner which has never failed for me on a dancefloor… incorporating vocals in to many of his tracks, Smith manages to capture nostalgia for a time most of us weren’t old enough to experience first-hand, yet his tunes always sound perfectly worn-in and authentic. I also really enjoy his work with Graeme Clark as The Revenge, a more uptempo house project where they are the remix kings. Keep reading for some of my favorite 6th Borough Project jams, and pick up a few on Beatport for your weekend listening pleasure.

An all-menswear line for the first time in fall/winter 2010 after a decade of unisex, A.D. Deertz brings super clean tailoring and fits, providing wearable looks with pieces that can fit in most anywhere. The Berlin label chooses a simple color palate for this collection, and I’m really enjoying the charcoal grey and rust red as focal points. Won Hundred Autumn/Winter 2010 Lookbook

Danish label Won Hundred‘s autumn/winter 2010 lookbook landed in our inbox today. In their words, the collection is ‘inspired by the straight lines and hard shapes from cubist art, combined with the soft and natural influences from collage art of the same era. Materials like wood, paper and all sorts of found objects are glued and taped together. While black, grey and white are key, this seasons colours range from spice brown to a dark duffel bag green accented by a washed out aubergine and muted jade green.’ I really dig the presentation, artistic yet approachable. Also, Won Hundred will apparently expand their denim and shoe collections for fall, which have always been the line’s strong points. keep reading to view the entire lookbook (and click to expand all images).

Dana Lee Fall/Winter 2010 Lookbook

Dana Lee is a line I have come to love, from the perfect looking, totally wearable collection to the great looking presentation of her lookbooks. Also as I have mentioned before, she is a former Vancouver native turned New Yorker. The lookbook for this upcoming fall/winter 2010 collection is shot by Jody Rogac, featuring artist Mat Bushnel, Secret Forts’ James Wilson, and Jimy Seitang of The Psycic Ills among others. The lookbook is shot on 35mm film giving the collection a great look and feel. I love the style of her collections, she manages to take classic pieces and make them even better, such as sheirling Duffle coats, zippered overshirt, and alpaca lined Puffin jacket. I really want to get my hands on a few of these pieces come fall. Keep reading for a full look…

Duffer Of St. George Spring/Summer 2010

English label Duffer Of St. George have been proprietors of fine sportswear since 1984, and this capsule collection looks back to their roots with modern twists on classic pieces such as the varsity, hoodie, polo, and t shirt. As regular readers here have probably picked up by now, I’m generally a fan of definitively Brit styling, and this collection fits that bill… a little more footballer than mod or punk, but still appealing. The varsity is the standout piece, a great outerwear look for the warmer months. Keep reading to see the rest of Duffer’s spring/summer capsule offerings.

Woolrich Woolen Mills Fall/Winter 2010

Here is a look at the upcoming fall/winter 2010 from Mr. Suzuki’s ‘other’ line Woolrich Wollen Mills. The collection is titled ‘Hunting Noir’ which helps describe the influence behind the collection, which is basically hunting styled pieces done in mostly black, blue and greys. The looks are so well done with a good range of pieces done in the signature WWM style. I love the Hudson’s Bay Point blanket influence seen throughout the collection in the shawl cardigan and a couple jackets. Daiki Suzuki has really done it again with this great looking collection, his keen eye for detail and undisputed knowledge of the American heritage movement makes him a key player.
