Tom Ford Fall/Winter 2010

As Brendan and I embark on a boss-mandated mission to dress up a bit more this fall (read: a touch less flannel and boots, a few more sweaters and suits), I’ll definitely be looking to Tom Ford for inspiration. This f/w 2010 lookbook shows off all the high American glamour the designer is known for, with the unmatched slickness of his work reeled in a bit by the season’s demanded subtlety.  You don’t see a lot of higher-end ‘fashion’ here on 84/85, but Tom Ford is one of the few labels (along with Jil Sander, Dior Homme, etc) who’s aesthetic I can’t deny… click through for more.

The Rig Out: Issue 3

Oi-Polloi have released the third instalment of their in-house physical publication, ‘The Rig-Out.’ Influences for this issue come from the Norwegian wilderness as well as Italy,  seen throughout the rest of the pages. For this third release the folks at Oi-Polloi have stated that “the format’s been improved – more pages, better binding, nicer paper stock. The ‘interweb’ may well be embedded into our daily routines – but isn’t it nice to have The Rig-Out stick an inky finger in your virtual day-to-day?” The looks shown are on point and the photography and settings for the shoots look amazing, a job well done boys. Keep reading for a preview and head over to Secret Forts or ACL to grab a copy online…

A Closer Look: Junya Wantanabe MAN A/W 2010

The Junya Wantanabe MAN fall/winter 2010 collection has dropped at UK retailer end clothing, and they have a great looking selection of goods. The pieces shown are amazingly well done, with great details and pattern hits, especially the camo presence seen throughout. The standout pieces for me are the Levi’s collaboration jean (which could be one of my favourite pieces this entire season), the varsity jacket, and the duck canvas/cow hide jacket. Keep reading for more of my favourites…

Catalog Gallery Presents: The Dark – Postulate Dementia Show

[vimeo vimeo.com/15214083]

For the opening of the new Catalog Gallery, October 8th in Gastown, Vancouver, the team has shot this video promoting The Dark, who’s work will be featured in the gallery’s inaugural show. Putting all that East Van grime on full display, I think this video captures the aesthetic of the Catalog crew and their vision perfectly… can’t wait to see what else is to come.

Oliver Spencer Fall/Winter 2010 Lookbook

One of the best looking lines we’ve seen for this season, England’s Oliver Spencer here offers us a look at the entire f/w 2010 range. All high-quality basics constructed in England (with a the knits being made in Portugal), the line comes in at a mid price point while having the feel of a garment that will last you for years.  The fits are also amazing, trim while not marginalizing guys who will need to size up a little bit. Oliver Spencer may be my favorite discovery for this fall, I highly recommend finding a stocklist near you and checking it out.

Gant by Michael Bastian Spring/Summer 2011

Shot at the recent NY fashion week, here’s a look at Gant by Michael Basitian‘s spring/summer 2011 collection, which is a wild ride through east coast prep spanning a few different decades. I definitely feel the more 1950′s/60′s inspired looks, but the splashes of 80′s flair here and there work as well… I just wish all those collars didn’t have to be popped though. The women’s side of this collection is stunning, I highly recommend checking that out here… and click though for the rest of the men’s.
