The 1939 Clothier Fall 2010

Handmade in California with all fabric and fasteners coming from within the USA (or, if not possible, from ‘countries that do not seek to destroy us’ – their quote), The 1939 Clothier is a line I discovered through the SoCal motorcycle blog network. Producing quality basics, the line is reminiscent of a more restrained Engineered Garments or Woolrich Woolen Mills, with looser-fitting chambray, canvas, and selvedge denim pieces. Their blog is very cool as well, documenting all things Americana and the history of work wear, as well as southern California custom motorcycle and hot rod culture. Keep reading for some more lookbook shots and a full rundown on the fall 10 collection from The 1939 Clothier.

Catalog Gallery Presents: Natural Hazards

[vimeo 16266602]

Here’s the promo for the latest show to go up at Catalog Gallery in Gastown, Vancouver, BC: Natural Hazards, a photo presentation featuring Lincoln Clarkes, Jen Osborne and Byron Dauncey. In their words, this is ‘a collection of beautiful women captured by three Vancouver based photographers; the selected photographs focus on vulnerability linked to beauty, and beauty linked with power.’ As always, I’m feeling the visuals, music, and creative direction by my dude Robert Squire. This show opens November 5th and runs through the 28th.

Crescent Down Works for J.Crew Fall 2010

Its been a minute since we put up any J.Crew content on the old blog here, what better way to bring them back then with a collaboration with Seattle-based Crescent Down Works. They have teamed up to produce these two amazing looking pieces, a down puffer vest and down puffer hooded jacket. J. Crew knows how to pick their collabs, as the list gets longer the products get more impressive. The jacket is on my ‘wants and needs’ list for sure…

aNYthing Fall 2010 Lookbook

With so many lines and lookbooks to sort through these days, it’s hard to discern what’s actually good and what’s not from a computer screen… if the presentation is on point, that’s usually enough to generate some hype for your product. Not saying aNYthing‘s fall 10 lookbook falls in to this category, but with the BoO-style overexposure and the cast of notable NYC creatives, it’s hard not to generalize… the styling is good, the product looks tight, so why am I not completely sold? Maybe the internet has made me slightly jaded (and maybe I should stop reading YouTube/Hypebeast comments), but there’s not much going on here to separate the brand from Supreme, Huf, and any other line doing the same sort of thing. Whatever the case, the looks are pretty solid… click through for more.

Brixton Lookbook Holiday 2010

Brixton is a line that both Kevin and I can truly appreciate, as they nail our overall aesthetic pretty much perfectly. They combine skating/motorcycles/music and art into one complete package, and it is shown here flawlessly with their lookbook for holiday 2010. There is nothing I wouldn’t wear from this collection, every piece works for me. As well as the guys stuff there is some great girls looks shown, who would have thought a girl in a cute hat in a junkyard would look so good… never mind that answers itself. Boneyards II / Conspiracy: Group#2

The Stussy x Neighborhood: Boneyards Project has been a much admired and well respected collaboration effort from its introduction in 2008. Now the two are making another big impression with the Boneyards II ‘Conspiracy’ collection, inspired by bikers gangs from East L.A. from the 1950′s through 70′s. The second part of the collection saw its online release yesterday, which included the Levi’s denim/leather jacket as well as a variety of tee’s, sweaters, jackets, shirts and accessories. The Levi’s jacket is the real winner for me, keep reading for the full look…

NSW x Loopwheeler Fall 2010

Nike Sportswear have recently released their second collaborative venture with Japan’s Loopwheeler for this fall release. This collection builds on their previous colab on the AW77 hoodie from last fall. The collection for this season includes a small range of t-shirts, crew neck sweaters and hoodies. The Loopwheeler process of producing these garments is some of the best in the world, using rotating looms, the time consuming process only allows a handful of garments to made each day. These pieces are superior quality and comfort with minimal branding, they are a great example of how Nike is never one to overlook.
