Had a bit of a heart attack when I came across is-ness this week when doing my regular rounds through my Japanese source sites. What a flawlessly executed label; taking cues from classic California outdoors wear (read: Patagonia) and adding stylistic and construction nuances that are explicitly Japanese, is-ness’ f/w 2011 collection is as solid a front-to-back concept run as I’ve seen. Wild colors and patterns, a wide array of materials, and a seemingly high-function cold weather commitment make this so, so appealing to me. Some of the pieces are a little cray for my personal taste, but taken individually a lot of this would integrate and pop with a more toned-down existing wardrobe… basically, this line is RAD.
