Presented by Montana, Graffuturism, and Catalog Creative, here is a recap video of Scott Sueme and Andrew Young’s trip to Art Basel in Miami, putting in work on both the facilitated walls and the streets. These guys are two of my favourite artists in Vancouver right now, and Young has a solo show coming up at Catalog Gallery this week, full of his highly impressive realism works. Shot by Bikes and edited by Rob Squire, this vid also features an unreleased Garde + Eames track that didn’t make the album and just happened to suit the cut pretty well. Enjoy.

HBTV recently put up this great short vid featuring interviews and footage of Erik Brunetti, as shot by David Gallardo during Bruntetti’s retrospective show at LA’s Union. From the writeup,

‘Concisely recapping 20 years of Erik Brunetti’s involvement with FUCT is difficult; the artist and graffiti writer founded the label in 1990 and has since attracted many people with re-interpreted cultural themes and iconography and above all else a strong opinion’

Nothing but respect and admiration for Brunetti and his many artistic outputs from the 84/85 camp, and this vid is definitely worth the watch.

John Copeland is a New York-based artist and motorcycle builder, as well as a member of White Knights in the House of Kolor, a Brooklyn-based motorcycle club and art collective with other members like Wes Lang and Jeffro Schaad. I became familiar with John through the motorcycle blog world, more specifically the WKITHOK blog. I am a big fan of his style, with lose/messy brush strokes with dark and interesting subject matter seen throughout. Here are two promo videos for the upcoming show opening this Thursday at Catalog Gallery in Gastown, Vancouver. This show features signage work from Justin Wright and Dan Climan, who most recently completed all the graphic design and print collateral for the now-reopened Save On Meats. These turned out great, directed by Robert Squire, shot by Ryan Lindow, and edited by Louvens Remy, with the video above soundtracked by myself. Check the Climan promo after the jump, and make sure to roll through Catalog if you find yourself in Gastown over the next three weeks.

London’s Topsafe are back it again with Crack & Shine International, the follow up to their first release Crack & Shine. After the success of their online gallery through Topsafe and the release of London’s first graffiti book, Crack & Shine publisher Fred Forsyth and photographer Will Robson-Scott set out to showcase the international graffiti and street art scene. The book features in depth interviews, unseen photographs, and original artwork from the likes of Roid, Horfe, Retna, Espo, Katsu, Tomek, and Andre, just to name a few. The book will be accompanied by a film, done in conjunction with Vans, set to drop in early June 2011. Here is a look at a great editorial shoot titled ‘Sky to Sea’ for the April issue of Pig Magazine (Italy) by Vancouver native Jennilee Marigomen. The shoot was taken in various locations from West Vancouver to Whistler, amazing Northwest coast landscapes that we’re all too familiar with. The styling (Redia Soltis) is great, with a good mix of rugged outdoors styles and athletic classics. Keep reading for a full look at the shoot courtesy of 01 Mag.

Vaughn Robert Squire is back on the grind at Catalog, balancing the daily operations of the creative agency/gallery with his ongoing Prison Garde project. Forthcoming at the gallery is a new exhibition of works by Other aka Troy Lovegates, a longtime favorite of both Rob and our very own Brendan (aka /85). This video provides a glimpse in to Other’s expansive styles and should give a good idea of what to expect during his showing at the gallery. I really feel the editing of this clip, plus Rob + Andrew Gordon Macpherson (aka ANGO) absolutely smash the soundtrack. Nice work all around, and I can’t wait to check this out on an upcoming mainland trip.

Allister Lee aka ALIST is a Victoria BC native and artist/designer who has worked with the likes of Stussy, Staple, Nike and Supreme, to name a few. Lee is know for his use and love of simple drawing supplies, mostly limited to black marker on paper. A few years back I remember seeing a graphic he did for Stussy which was made up of a bunch of hand drawn black markers from all different makes and styles. That graphic was a small preview of what he has been working on now for almost a decade, 500 hand draw black markers all of different makes, vintages and styles. He has decided to produce a limited edition poster of the 500 marker drawings, which measures 42” x 32”, and is printed on 80lb gloss poster stock.  The poster is now available at the Reed Space in NY and his own website for $40USD.

Our good friend (and basically resident photographer) Matt Savage has recently completed his newest project entitled ‘Nostalgic Death Delirium,’ a short film shot entirely on Super 8. We were privileged to be part of this project, as some of the film you’ll see was taken on our GOC motorbike trip this past summer. We’re super stoked on the result, and combined with the amazing soundtrack provided by Stephen Graf and Scott Mcleod, this is a product Matt should proud of.
