Born-Free has become the premier custom vintage bike show in the US and perhaps the world, and the 5th edition goes down late June… as per usual the show has been releaseing builder profiles in the leadup and these are my two favourite so far, the California based Noise Cycles and Cycle Zombies. Different styles and different stories but both very rad, watch and enjoy

Sometimes I think we could easily become a Deus tribute blog, but anyway. Thumpers, the single-cylinder 4-stoke beasts (who’s sound obviously informs the name) hold a very special place in the 84/85 black hearts: we both ride ‘em on the daily. The stable consists of an SR500 and an XT550, workhorse bikes, light, torquey and instantly recognizable by sound from a few blocks away. And while we’re all Yammy over here there’s plenty of thumpers out there, and recently Deus decided to throw their first ever proper motorcycle show at the California Emporium of Postmodern Activities in honour of the vaunted single. SO MANY COOL BIKES showed up, what can I say, wish I could have been there more than any cool chop show, that’s for sure. Enjoy the images and check the Deus recap for more.

It’s been a minute since we’ve featured anything from Scott Toepfer, so why not start your Wednesday with one of the best video lookbooks to ever grace the internet. Iron & Resin give a look at their f/w 2013 collection, shot mostly at Big Sur on the mid California coast, and all I can think about right now is packing up the gear, getting on the bike and going until the beans and gas money runs out. Beautiful work from Toepfer and more great promo collateral from I&R, stoke all around.

Short clip of Massan bombing on that gorgeous Low, promoting Chrome‘s new shoe the Truk, which actually looks pretty rad. I might even wear them if I wasn’t married to Shimano road clips or Vans. Love the moves Chrome has been making with new bags, kicks and apparel, respect.

Yes! This is hype on a few levels: one, we really like rad socks. For serious, quality-made socks with good height+weight and solid pattern/color are the best, and more difficult to find than you might think. Second, we like motorbikes/skateboarding/getting shredded in general, so the combo of the two is on point. Stance is a California brand doing it big in the sock game, and props to them. A pairing we can definitely support: Scott Toepfer recently hooked up with Iron & Resin to shoot their 2012 brand video, and even though it’s been out for a couple weeks and we’re a little late to the party, it’s just too good not to post. We’ve been super impressed by both parties over the past year, especially Toepfer for his It’s Better In The Wind series/video, and for his work with Iron & Resin last summer… expect more quality from all involved in 2012.
