Junya Watanabe Spring 2011

With previews from all the upcoming spring 2010 collections now showing, it is time for us here at 84/85 to filter through them and share our favorites. Junya Watnabe definitely falls into the favorites category with this nautically infused spring 11 collection. There is a huge amount and proportion of stripes being used throughout the collection, being paired with whites, light tans, navys and reds which all add to the nautical theme. The overall feel is very light, relaxed and rather simplistic, which makes me want to step up my yachting game. Keep reading for a few more of my favorites…

Tom Ford Spring 2010 for SENSE Magazine

SENSE Magazine has done another stellar editorial featuring Tom Ford, this time highlighting his spring 2010 collection, styled by Tomoki Sukezane and photographed by Junji Hata. The publication always impresses with their styling, and Ford’s spring offerings are typically outrageous, in that ‘so luxurious I’d need to climb about 5 tax brackets to wear/afford them’ kind of way…. keep reading for more.

Mishka D.A.R.T. Spring 2010 Lookbook

Liking this makes me a hipster, right? Regardless of the connotations Mishka carries with them, their Death Adders Road and Track team has some nice swag, and always comes correct with presentation and style. Every season the D.A.R.T. line produces nice looking windbreakers, snap backs, tees, and accessories… plus the line seems to be continually expanding under the Mishka umbrella. This lookbook was shot by Andrew Temkin in NYC, and features fixed gear bloglebrity Prolly… click though for more, and if you like, make sure to hit the webstore asap as this stuff never sticks around for long.

Outlier Spring 2010 Lookbook

Brooklyn’s Outlier continues their run of ultra-simple bike-oriented pieces for spring 2010, with their signature pant, merino tee’s and polo’s, and a braided keychain. The line’s ethic is something we can totally get behind: handmade in the USA, by cyclists for cyclists, etc… however, the pant our friend ordered a few seasons ago hasn’t exactly stood the test of time… here’s hoping they’re continually working on quality standards, as the clothes should be bulletproof for the price. Click though for more of the lookbook.

Huf SF Spring 2010 Lookbook

Huf SF is definitely one of my favorite ‘streetwear’ labels, mixing skate + hip hop influences with the norcal cool of SF and a more grownup cut-and-sew direction as of late. I always have a want for their hats, varsity jackets, and sweats, and the brand’s presentation is always super on point. Plus their motto is ‘dirtbag crew,’ which is pretty much the best… one of the very few graphic tee’s I would rock, that’s for sure. Maiden Noir Spring 2010

Representing for the North West, Seattle-based label Maiden Noir has just released their spring 2010 collection, entitled ‘Return To Tanner Ridge.’ Continuing with the workwear styling that they have adapted to over the last few seasons. I really like the presentation of this collection, with solid color combinations and a heavy dose of chambray and tasteful check prints. The real standouts are the accessories, the backpacks and 5-panel hats are looking just right for summer time… keep reading for the full collection.

Mishka Spring 2010 Lookbook

Shot by the phenomenal Marley Kate for a third season in a row, Mishka is definitely bringing the heat with their spring 2010 lookbook. Moving further away from traditional ‘streetwear’ than ever before, this presentation of the spring collection is entitled ‘Trailblazing Through The City With Just A Pipe And A Guide,’ and cements Mishka’s place as the leaders of their marketplace, keeping the graphic street edge that made them so good in the first place while further developing their cut-and-sew offerings. Personally I think the lookbook is as good as it gets: sharply styled, well shot, solid model choices, seamless backdrop transitions, and captures the youth energy that makes this product pop. Mishka is a huge favorite of ours, and I can’t wait to cop a few pieces for spring, especially from the Death Adders collection… click through to see the entire lookbook.

FTC Spring 2010

Back to clothes that have a more practical application in my day-to-day, San Francisco’s FTC has just released their spring 2010 collection, and the tight lineup of technical outerwear and simplified streetwear is looking really on point. The brand has a rich heritage of involvement in skate culture from the very beginning, and their current offerings are definitely on the more grown-up end of skate apparel. The collection includes a good looking collaboration with REBEL8 on a skate deck, and I really like the hooded parka and the barracuda-style jacket. Keep reading for more from the FTC spring 2010 collection.
