Uniforms For The Dedicated Spring/Summer 2012

Swedish label Uniforms For The Dedicated return with this striking lookbook for their s/s ’12 collection. I know we’ve made fun of the whole ‘put some models in a forest’ approach to lookbooks in the past, but when you’ve got nordic evergreens, cliffs and fjords it just works (and also looks a lot like our home of BC). Collection looks good too, especially like the layering w/ the shorts etc… keep reading for more.

Light My Fire: Product Range 2011

Light My Fire is a Swedish camping accessories company that specializes in products that create fire and the implements used to eat and prepare what ever it is that you will be cookin’ up in the backwoods or your own backyard. The company’s most popular products are the Spork and the Firesteel 2.0, which is a fire-starting device that works in the harshest conditions, both wet and dry. All the products seen in their range are made and designed in Sweden, with emphasis on low-tech, high quality, durable goods. Check the video below for demos (I recommend muting it) and keep reading for a look at the other products in their line, ranging from mealkits, knives, salt and pepper shakers to tinder sticks…

Uniforms For The Dedicated Brand Video

Really awesome brand identity vid featuring Swedish label Uniforms for the Dedicated, covering topics such as their inspirations, how the line came to be, the intersections of mediums in their ongoing creative process, and the current state of Stockholm. The most notable part for me was when when one of the brand founders was explaining how Sweden’s tangible desire to consume Swedish lines was responsible for their rapid expansion and market gain… if only we had the same sort of attitude in Canada regarding our home-grown lines…

Uniforms for the Dedicated Fall/Winter 2011

Yet another standout collection from Swedish label Uniforms for the Dedicated with this f/w 2011 preview. Since its inception the line has pushed a uniquely rugged aesthetic, sort of akin to Engineered Garments but substituting Japanese
sensibilities for Scandinavian. Great styling of the collection, solid basics with a few twists thrown in for good measure… more after the jump.

Svensson Shoes Spring/Summer 2011

Swedish magazine/label/design collective Svensson has released this great looking footwear range for the spring/summer 2011 season. The line features four styles, the Army Shoe, Canvas shoe, and the Leather shoe in high and low cuts. The shoes are all made in the town of Montegranaro, Italy which has been a maker of fine footwear since the beginning of the 1900′s. I love the look of the Army shoe, modelled after German, Belgian and Austrian military footwear. Check the video below…

Brand Respect: Nudie Jeans

It seems strange that we wouldn’t have profiled Nudie here before… but maybe there’s a reason. Nudie is a line that has blown up massive over the last few years, with the contrast pocket wave stitching reaching near ubiquitous levels of visibility in your average 20-something gathering. The line has such a wide range of denim cuts, producing a fit for basically everyone. The thing that makes Nudie different from other lines is the fact they don’t change their collection very much from season to season (the denim barely at all), and that they never produce lookbooks, ad campaigns, or basically any other form of promotional material. Hence, no pretty images, hence, little blog love. But four years after buying my first pair, I’m still a die-hard Nudie fanatic. The Thin Finn cut is the best fitting jean I’ve ever worn, period, and you can’t argue with Japanese denim sewn in Italy. At current I have 5 pairs going in my rotation, with one being my beat-to-hell cycling jean that refuses to die. Another thing I love about the line is their work with Amnesty International, who they’ve supported for years through the ‘Human Rights Collection.’ Offering a huge selection of tops, denim, and accessories, Nudie is a brand that is doing it proper, and will be a major player in the market for years to come… and if you’ve yet to try on their jeans, do yourself a favour and find your local stocklist.

Dunderdon Fall 2009

dunderdon7

Dunderdon is a workwear company based out of Gothenburg Sweden, started in 1997 by Peri-van Hagberg, a carpenter by trade wanting to make the perfect work pant. Hagberg grew the company from its roots in making pants and workwear to a full fashion collection for men and women. It is the minimal and clean design that gives it the good looks, but the pieces are still technical and tough enough to work in, making them ideal for the everyday grinds. The fall 2009 offering covers all grounds and is looking great, with a large selection of staple pieces such as jackets, sweaters, shirts, trousers and accessories. Check Still Life for some of the pieces (including the navy jacket shown above), and keep reading for more looks from the collection…

Uniforms For The Dedicated Fall/Winter 2009 Preview

Picture 4Swedish line Uniforms For The Dedicated may not yet be retailing in North America, but that doesn’t mean this sneak preview at their fall/winter 2009 collection isn’t worth a look. And while none of the four founders are professionally trained designers, their collective backgrounds in music, illustration, mixed media and marketing make this line pop off your screen. Scandinavian anti-fits, bold color and patterns, comfort cuts, and actual wearability: I would definitely mess with this line, and I’m especially loving the rolled pants and boots look. As of now you can only find their pieces online, but hopefully a physical retail presence will come on our continent within the next season or two. More looks from the f/w preview after the jump.
