As Brendan and I embark on a boss-mandated mission to dress up a bit more this fall (read: a touch less flannel and boots, a few more sweaters and suits), I’ll definitely be looking to Tom Ford for inspiration. This f/w 2010 lookbook shows off all the high American glamour the designer is known for, with the unmatched slickness of his work reeled in a bit by the season’s demanded subtlety.  You don’t see a lot of higher-end ‘fashion’ here on 84/85, but Tom Ford is one of the few labels (along with Jil Sander, Dior Homme, etc) who’s aesthetic I can’t deny… click through for more.

SENSE Magazine has done another stellar editorial featuring Tom Ford, this time highlighting his spring 2010 collection, styled by Tomoki Sukezane and photographed by Junji Hata. The publication always impresses with their styling, and Ford’s spring offerings are typically outrageous, in that ‘so luxurious I’d need to climb about 5 tax brackets to wear/afford them’ kind of way…. keep reading for more.

As I’ve previously raved about, Tom Ford absolutely killed it for fall 09. The designer’s work is the watermark for American luxury, and sets the example for how to dress if one’s income is in the 7 figures… This editorial for Japan’s SENSE Magazine showcases some solid current seasonal attire styled to perfection for the office, the holiday party, or for a quick jaunt to Monaco. Ford is one of the few high-end designers who blows me away on a consistent basis, so to see his pieces put together in such a tight editorial is quite the pleasure. Brought to you as always by The Fashionisto, this look into Tom Ford‘s fall 09 collection provides a picture of a designer who will never compromise, regardless of economic climate or market trends. Defining luxury for the high-end American consumer, Ford is absolutely killing it in my books, with an awesome array of leather, velvet, wool, plaid, colors, and cuts. I would wear any of these pieces, and the suiting is absolutely untouchable. I also really enjoy the way the shots were styled and the model choice, mixing classic looks with a sharp contemporary edge.

David design S/S 09

Swedish furniture line-turned-fashion-designer David design has released their s/s 09 collections in two different runs, with a formal suiting collection for spring and more casual shorts and button-up looks for summer.  feedback to this collection has been a little harsh on the internet, with calls of a blatant Tom Ford ripoff, both in terms of the actual clothes and presentation aesthetic, being the main criticism. regardless, I like how clean the looks are, and I appreciate the use of sandals, a footwear accessory I’m considering trying out this summer for the first time since my childhood.. more looks after the jump.
