Ransom ‘Resort’ Collection 2012

So Ransom is back, and what better way to re-enter the market than with this pure fire collection and accompanying lookbook, which is equally on point. Seriously though, we’ve missed Ransom, holding it down for Canadian streetwear in a big way. The entire line is now produced in the USA so no more janky sewing and a more accurate pricepoint, and this collection looks so hype top to bottom. Yeah, it’s camo, plaid, and basics, but it’s done right and it’s from TO, so we’re biased. This lookbook is the clincher, great model choice and look composition. More after the break, and the collection is available online and at you local stocklist now.

Muttonhead Collective Spring/Summer 2012

Here is the first look at the s/s 2012 offerings from Muttonhead Collective, based out of Toronto. The unisex line was founded a couple years ago in part by our good friend Paige, and has been steady on the rise ever since. Spring/summer ’12 will see them gain their widest exposure yet, as a solid run at the tradeshows has helped expand their stocklists. All garments are manufactured in Toronto, with a strong mandate of sustainability and environmentalism. I give full support to a label trying to make while handling all aspects of their business in-house, and especially appreciate their investment in to local manufacturing. Look for more from MC in the coming months.

Another Look: Ransom Spring/Summer 2010

ransom adidas

Toronto’s own Ransom Holding Co. gives a small preview of their upcoming Spring 2010 collection. We have been showing Ransom’s constant progression in the menswear industry, with good looking clean collections that fit in more than they stand out, which I think is a good thing. This Fall 2010 preview shows what looks to be another well done offering with clean plaids, a shawl collared varsity jacket, and flannel lined trousers as well as their second collaboration with Adidas with the Pier model. Ransom is holding it down for Canada right now with good collaborations and nice looking collections. Keep reading for the rest of the preview…

Klaxton Howl Fall/Winter 2009

howl3

Keeping things moving in the Canadian department we feature the fall/winter 2009 collection from the Toronto based label/store Klaxton Howl. The line has a really nice classic outdoors vibe and feel to it: “Our inspirations come from the spirit and icons of the past. Men who toil and the clothes that protect them. Frontiersmen and prospectors, Soldiers and Sailors, Aviators and Highwaymen, American Indians and Cattlemen and the film idols that portrayed them. We study and reference our ever growing archive of vintage garments, books and films for details, fit, fabrics and finishes. Creating unique clothing with a nostalgic, ardent feel. Striving to achieve imperfect beauty through the use of raw, honest materials and non standardized details and proportions. Giving men a new outlook on dressing. Style over fashion.” I think their writeup sums it up for me, this is a really interesting line that I would love to see more from. If you are in the Toronto area check out their new space at 694 Queen St. W. and keep reading for more looks from the collection…

Drake = Summer

l_12e3e18b6612430fb056e699468b70a4

Summer jam installment #2. I know my musical taste can be hard to pin down.. one minute I’m posting electronic, then I’m praising The Boss, then I’m all over metal t-shirts. Here I’m gonna delve in to my love for R&B and club rap. Toronto’s own Drake (aka Jimmy Brooks from Degrassi the Next Gen) has been killing it on mixtapes for a while now, and if these two tracks are an indication of what his forthcoming album will be like, there is reason for excitment. Drake sings, Drake raps, and Drake’s got swagger: while not quite as good a singer as my favorites The Dream or Dwele, and not a good a rapper as Weezy or Juelz, Drake’s combo of both gives him that something extra, and his lyrical skill plus fresh-faced good-boy-gone-bad schtick just seems to work. The R. Kelly joint is the daytime track, and you can throw on the Trey Songz collab for the night:

Drake – You The Best (R. Kelly remix)

Drake – Successful ft. Trey Songz + Lil Wayne
